This free PNG to JPG converter changes your PNG files to universally-compatible JPG images without uploading anything to a server. The conversion uses the HTML5 Canvas API inside your browser tab — your images stay on your device the whole time. JPG is ideal when you need smaller file sizes for email attachments or platforms that don't accept PNG.
JPG uses lossy compression that produces much smaller files than PNG for photographs. A photo saved as PNG might be 3–5 MB; the same image as JPG at 85% quality is often under 500 KB.
Some older email clients, CMS platforms, and social networks compress PNGs aggressively or convert them automatically. Sending a JPG guarantees you control the quality.
For any photo that doesn't use a transparent background, JPG is the more efficient format. PNG's lossless compression shines for screenshots and logos, not photos.
JPG uses lossy compression, so some detail is discarded. Our converter uses 92% quality which produces excellent results indistinguishable from the original for most images. For pixel-perfect accuracy, keep the PNG.
JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent areas in your PNG will become white in the output JPG. If you need to preserve transparency, convert to WebP instead.
JPG is better for photographs because it achieves much smaller file sizes with imperceptible quality loss. PNG is better for images with sharp edges, text, or transparent backgrounds.
